Who doesn’t love a burger every so often?! When I was invited to try a selection of the tasty mini-burgers at Bite Me Burger Co I couldn’t resist sampling some of their unique flavour options!
The first thing I noticed (from a distance even!) is the really fun decor in and across the restaurant. Burger themed cushions & extremely cool graphic posters were everywhere! I especially loved that some actively endorsed that it’s okay to be a messy eater – I definitely make a mess when eating a burger!
Burger restaurants have been popping up everywhere for quite a while now, so I was excited to see how the unique slider style menu would stack up against other venues! The burgers are all mini sized, and the substantial variety of flavours all promised to pack a punch to prove their point that size isn’t everything!
The menu boasts 15 unique flavour combinations, as well as the addition of specials periodically. With so many choices I’m sure everyone would be able to find one they enjoy! Although picking a few becomes tricky as they all sound pretty tasty! You can enjoy pick and mix from the range from a duo, trio, quad, or yes a full DOZEN of them!
I was lucky enough to try most of the options as we were provided with sharing platters. Obviously everyone has their own palate & preferences, but I had a few favourites!
The ‘Bloody Mary’ has an aged beef patty, horseradish, onion, cheddar cheese and a secret bloody mary sauce that made this a delicious amount of spicy! The ‘Duck Me’ offered something slightly different by combining a duck patty with truffle mayo, smoked hoisin, swiss cheese and rocket. The last favourite was the ‘Hawaiian’, an aged beef patty, bacon, swiss cheese, spinach, pineapple and an amazing mescal BBQ sauce – I know some people hate pineapple on pizzas & other dishes, but I just love it!
Vegetarians diners are not left out of a big selection of flavours. As well the Vegetari Anne which has a portobello mushroom & melted brie filling, you can make any of the other burgers vegetarian! The meat/fish patties are simply replaced by fried aubergine whilst you retain the rest of the sauces and additional items! I tried a vegetarian Bloody Mary, which had the same amazing sauce and flavour, just a slightly different texture to the meat version.
There is one vegan burger on the menu, which has a chickpea patty & several trimmings. I haven’t tried this as they were out of stock the day I visited – the popularity of Veganuary worked against me this time!
A few things to note about the burgers! They are made to order, so it does take time to cook your food. The beef, lamb & duck is cooked medium & will be pink in the middle unless you request otherwise. There is a Halal beef option for burgers & hot-dogs. We also noticed that platters (or delivery boxes) may have meat, fish, vegetarian and vegan options combined – although I’m sure you can request them to be separated if you’d prefer.
To accompany the burgers there are regular or sweet potato fries (which were not soggy!), soft drinks and they serve a range of milkshakes that also sound delicious! There is also a sneaky hotdog on the menu, which is adorably mini, but a perfect tiny version of a true American tasty hotdog!
There is also a mixed, changing range of craft beers available to go with your burgers. I really love how creative some of the craft beer cans are now, the designs definitely draw me in initially! I chose to try London Fields Broadway Boss Lager, which is 4.6% ABV. The fab Curious Claire, who also likes to try new beers, opted for the London Fields Hackney Hopster Pale Ale, which I’d definitely say tasted more like a session beer (4.2%).
I had a really enjoyable night at Bite Me Burger Co. The food and drinks are really nice, with lots of options to hopefully please most diners, but I think the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff really helped to make this a great experience. I also discovered from talking to them that there could be burger afternoon teas coming soon, that I would definitely be heading back to sample!
I think Bite Me Burger Co offers a good twist on a burger restaurant & delivery. The mini-burger portions mean you can try more flavours without over eating and it’s a really convenient venue to have dinner with friends before heading off to the local Camden roundhouse! If you can’t make it to Chalk Farm, you can order for delivery and I will definitely be keeping in mind the idea of 24 mini-burgers for the next office birthday!
