DegustaBox Review

Subscription boxes continue to develop their popularity and as we continue to spend more time at home due to the pandemic demand for goodies delivered straight to your door each month has increased! I have been a subscriber to DegustaBox for several years now and I love receiving new grocery items each month to discover new products.

How it works!

Each month members are sent a box containing 10-15 surprise products. These are frequently new to the market, special editions of products or items you won’t find in every supermarket. The monthly box is the same for every subscriber, although sometime you may get a different flavour of the same product in the range.

The boxes are delivered monthly and cost £12.99 (including postage). Currently you cannot enter any preferences for things like allergies, dietary requirements, alcohol drinking or household composition. This means that you may get items that are not suitable for your household, e.g. receiving alcohol or items intended for children. I simply distribute any products that are not to my taste or those designed specifically for children to my family or friends. (or enjoy a sneaky child’s treat myself!)

One thing I love is that the boxes are commitment free, with no minimum subscription length and you simply have to notify them via the contact form before the 1st of the month to cancel or pause your subscription. Gifting options are also available from a minimum of a 3 month subscription. This year they have also put together a fun Advent calendar box that can be gifted to yourself or others!

My Boxes!

I have received many DegustaBoxes now and the box is always well packaged to ensure that all of your surprise gifts arrive to you in the best possible condition. I’m genuinely shocked to see how many items are inside when I receive each box and the monthly themes are great fun.

Full, but carefully packaged Degustabox

They promise the value of the contents will always be higher than your monthly subscription fee. Inside each box there is a guide to the items, providing information, the RRP and stockists. Some items will not be widely available everywhere, e.g. some of my products have only been available in certain stores or on direct websites, but if you make an amazing discovery that normally wouldn’t put you off a repeat purchase.

There is also further information about the products in the box so you have ideas about how to use them best, pairings, tasting notes and origins. Frequently there are vouchers provided for the products in the box, so should you enjoy them you can have another reduced or even free sometimes!

Each box is generally themed, e.g. Back to School or Best of British. The theme for the October box was really fun as Movie Night & Halloween and included:

Product Reviews!

As the box contained several items, I have yet to taste them all!! I like that I can use them up gradually over the month before the next box arrives. Here are some reviews of some of those I have sampled so far.

Naked Malaysian Rendang veg Pot – 100% plant based, with 1 of your 5 a day and vegan friendly these are a fab cupboard staple. Simply add hot water and you have a flavoursome lunch in minutes. I find these are a great item to have a couple in the cupboard for those no-time lunches!

Olly’s Pretzel Thins – the perfect healthier alternative to crisps, these treats are oven baked, with 80% less fat and 45% fewer calories than potato crisps. Each pack is 98 calories per pack & they are vegan! I loved both of the flavours & these are a great healthier crisp alternative.

KitKat Senses Chocolate Selection Gift Box – A mixed box of three delicious KitKat flavours, all individually wrapped. I loved the Salted Caramel ones, but double chocolate and hazelnut were also delicious! (my favourite KitKats still remain the pandan flavour in Asia!). These are the perfect gift or something to share with family/friends at a movie night, especially as they are individually wrapped.

Brynmor flapjack – a delicious treat I discovered in a previous box and have ordered since! This chocolate coated flapjack is packed with high quality natural ingredients that is perfect to satisfy your chocolate craving! I also recommend the caramel versions!

YES! Plant Protein Bar – Each of these cereal bars contains 10g of plant protein produced by the main ingredient nuts – this can be a downside of the box if you have allergies obviously!

I really enjoyed the October theme of the box and the contents provided. Many were of a chocolate variety, which is bound to be a winner with me! I had tried a few of the brands/products before, albeit in different flavours maybe and was pleased to see them in my box again. I have already placed an order for a 2 of the items and the Chocolate Selection gift box has given me a great idea for some Christmas stocking fillers as well!

If you like making new discoveries then I’d recommend giving a Degusta Box subscription a try. It’s a fantastic way to receive some new products, specials and different products that you may not discover otherwise – plus it is a great price point for the items you receive. I would say that all of the items I have tried across all of my boxes have been good discoveries. Although not everything is too my taste, some are now firm favourites that I order regularly! Give it a try, you never know what you may discover!
