I love enjoying a delicious Afternoon Tea with friends and family. I find it’s the perfect way to celebrate nearly every occasion, or even just the occasional Wednesday! To celebrate Afternoon Tea Week, I decided to order a fabulous Afternoon tea for two delivered to enjoy at home from the fabulous Piglet’s Pantry.
An award-winning Bakery in West Sussex, the business has grown from strength to strength! Owner Jo, left the corporate world to follow her dream of setting up a bakery, starting with pies at football matches they now handmake a whole range of high quality, British products. Their head chef has been with the team since the beginning and as their success has continued they have expanded from award-winning pies to patisserie items, hampers and their wonderful Afternoon Tea boxes!
The Afternoon Tea boxes are available in sizes for 1, 2 or four people which makes them the perfect mix and match for festivities of any size! Ideal as a gift for someone on there own or a big friends gathering! Plus they can be posted nationwide on any day of your choosing for delivery between 7am-12pm, the perfect timing for your Afternoon Tea to be enjoyed!
The team often design a seasonal Afternoon tea option, like festive afternoon teas, a summer option and currently a Strawberry themed one perfect for the sunshine & Wimbledon season! They also have a Little Piglets range ideal for including children in your plans, with cute designs on their cupcakes, biscuits and even DIY biscuits to keep them entertained at the tea party! Plus they have specific vegan and vegetarian options, so there really is a hamper for everyone!!
As this was my first hamper from Piglet’s Pantry I opted for the Classic Handmade Afternoon tea for two as the menu sounded absolutely perfect! The hamper arrived on time and in perfectly designed packaging with cool blocks to make sure everything arrived in the best condition for the tea party.
Although I do love the traditional finger sandwiches you get with an afternoon tea, I was in love with the savouries provided in the classic afternoon tea hamper! As a company famous for their pies and pastries, I was really excited to be able to try some of these in the box. The savouries included; 2 traditional scotch eggs, 2 Ham hock & mature cheddar quiches and 2 traditional sausage rolls and 2 sausage rolls with cheese & pickle.
The savouries had instructions in the box to reheat the items safely. Who doesn’t love an hot sausage roll!!!! These were all absolutely delicious, my favourite was the mini sausage roll with cheese and pickle. I could have eaten many of these easily!
Whilst we ate the savouries, I was able to gently heat the scones in the oven so they were deliciously warm and beautifully fluffy inside! The scones were served with miniature pots of Tiptree jam and individual Rodda’s clotted cream servings. Ideal with the Teapigs tea that was provided in the hamper as well.
One perk of an Afternoon tea at home is being able to take a break at this point before diving in to the sweet treats! After some more cups of tea, and some Prosecco, it was time to try some of the beautiful cakes included in the hamper. There were 2 carrot cakes, a Blueberry, banana and lemon curd cake and a Lemon Drizzle loaf cake. All of these were presented in cute cases, with plenty of velvety frosting and great decorative touches. All of the flavours were brilliantly developed, with a wonderful light texture and just the right level of sweetness!
I absolutely loved my Piglet’s Pantry Afternoon tea delivery! All of the savouries, scones and cakes were of a really high quality and cleverly designed to be both traditional and inventive. Serving up savouries you could heat up at home and instructions for warming the scones added an extra level to make it feel fresh out the kitchen and extra delicious! I will definitely be ordering some of the themed boxes for further at home celebrations in the future, I’m especially excited to try a Festive one near Christmas!!
Cost: the afternoon teas vary based on the theme of the boxes. This exact Classic Afternoon Tea Box for two was £30 for 2. It’s also available in a Vegetarian version for the same price. Plus in larger sizes, with different price points.
