Hubbard and Bell, based inside the Hoxton Hotel, is a great casual restaurant option to meet up with friends & fantastic for any fans of people watching.
Situated adjacent to the bustling lobby bar, the restaurant comprises of a selection of long sharing tables and adorable booths placed around the edges for a comfy dining experience, all with a great view of the open kitchen.
I enjoyed a lovely dinner here with friends whilst planning our New York itinerary (more posts to come on that!) and was thrilled when I discovered all of the booths have plug sockets. Ideal for anyone who wants a working lunch/dinner or any emergency phone charging!
The menu has a varied list of options to please nearly any diner and we all found it easy to select food from the menu. The waiter was very helpful in assisting with recommendations for a vegetarian companion and selecting an accompanying red wine for the meal.
I was torn between two of my favourite dishes on the menu and opted for two starters instead of a main meal, along with some table sides for us all to enjoy.
A good steak tartare is a delicious dish which I enjoy trying when I find it on a menu. The presentation was excellent, the depth of flavouring was just right and the seasoned egg yolk makes a big difference. My only small request would be some more substantial crisps to make it easier to eat, but I would definitely order this again!
My other small plate was the Calamari frites and I was not disappointed with the delicate dish. Both dishes were the small plate/appetiser size and I was very pleased with the value for money.
The fantastic food & wine made this a great planning dinner; which we all thoroughly enjoyed.
Despite enjoying a feast of savoury dishes, we couldn’t resist the dessert menu and the caramel pretzel cheesecake did not disappoint!
